Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain relationships with debt clients and prospects in the healthcare sector.
- Lead and own the due diligence process and deal structuring process for debt transactions.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio management framework that ensures timely and concise reviews of financial performance for senior credit approvers.
- Engage in proactive portfolio management, including maintaining credit quality and profitability targets.
- Stay up-to-date with market, sector, and competitive trends, and develop product and sector/sub-sector knowledge.
- Act as a leader within the team and provide coaching and mentorship for members of the team.
- Develop a firm understanding of HSBC's banking products and markets.
- 7 years' experience in debt underwriting with healthcare and life sciences companies, preferably at a venture debt bank lender or fund.
- Ability to analyze business models, financial statements, competitive landscapes, and KPIs.
- Ability to assess and handle credit risks of existing portfolio, including covenant compliance, rating changes, and ongoing financial performance.
- Constantly curious and has a keen curiosity about tech trends/news, as well as a firm understanding of the startup and VC ecosystem.
- Willingness to wear multiple hats and collaborate with clients and internal partners.
- Ability to work alongside legal counsel in negotiating commercial and credit terms.
- Good negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, as well as databases such as Pitchbook or Crunchbase.
