Reports to: ReStore Manager & Assistant Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
The ReStore Associate plays a vital role in the daily operations of the ReStore, addressing the needs of customers, donors, and volunteers alike. This position is essential in ensuring a positive shopping experience, processing donations, and fostering relationships with our supporters and team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both shoppers and donors, creating a friendly and inviting environment.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers in person, via phone, and through email in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage the receipt, pricing, and organization of donated goods.
  • Maintain an appealing and well-organized sales floor to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Assist with cash register operations as necessary.
  • Build strong relationships with a diverse group of volunteers, providing guidance and promoting teamwork.
  • Support the cleanliness and upkeep of the store and warehouse.
  • Ensure a safe shopping environment by demonstrating safe practices and advising volunteers on safety protocols, particularly when handling large or heavy items.
  • As a ReStore Donation Driver:
  • Exhibit safe driving practices and courtesy on the road.
  • Express gratitude to all donors and share insights on how their contributions support our mission.
  • Complete necessary donation documentation accurately.
  • Evaluate donations and courteously decline items that do not align with our criteria.
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload donations.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in fundraising activities and events.
  • Act as a representative to promote the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Assist in maintaining building safety and accessibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred experience in retail, customer service, or non-profit sectors.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working with volunteers is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and a collaborative team player.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is conducted in a retail store and warehouse setting, with outdoor responsibilities in various weather conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Regularly lifting up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance for heavier items.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
