As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in promoting and implementing Restorative Practices in our schools, working closely with students, teachers, and staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Restorative Practices: Design and deliver educational training and coaching programs for students and school staff to promote positive relationships, conflict resolution, and community building.
- Facilitate Conflict Resolution: Use your exceptional communication and negotiation skills to facilitate settlements between disputing parties, providing direction and encouragement to find mutually beneficial solutions.
- Provide Social Skills Development: Work one-on-one with students to develop effective communication, stress management, and positive conflict resolution skills, promoting social-emotional learning and well-being.
- Lead Group Circles: Facilitate group settings and lead circles on topics such as community building, racial justice, response to harm, and socio-emotional support, promoting a culture of empathy and understanding.
- Harm Reduction and Crisis Management: Develop and implement harm reduction activities, including crisis management and behavior management techniques, to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community agencies to foster effective relationships and achieve shared goals.
- Advocate for Youth and Families: Provide advocacy and support for youth and families from diverse backgrounds, promoting equity and inclusion in all aspects of our work.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with Ibero-American Action League's and Rochester City School district's rules and regulations, preparing accurate reports and maintaining student files in a timely manner.
- Professional Development: Attend training sessions, meetings, and community events to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments, representing Ibero-American Action League and promoting Restorative Practices.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in counseling, human services, or social work, with 2 years of experience in human services or a combination of education and experience.
- Restorative Practices Experience: Experience and training in Restorative Practices preferred, with a strong understanding of child and adolescent development, positive youth development, risk and protective factors, harm reduction, and conflict resolution.
- Language Skills: Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and community members.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand, squat, and lift up to 40 lbs, with frequent sitting and occasional travel required.
