This role requires a strong understanding of purchasing principles, practices, and statutory requirements applicable to large-scale governmental purchasing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the District's Purchasing Act and internal policies in procurement activities.
  • Review and supervise the work of Buyers and Senior Buyers, including requisitions, change order requests, and purchase orders.
  • Meet with potential vendors and act as liaison between suppliers, requisitioners, and vendors.
  • Assign, supervise, and review work; ensure staff compliance with District policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including recommending changes or improvements in workflow associated with the procurement process.

Requirements

Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in business or public administration or a related field, and five years of experience in purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment as a prime duty. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Civil service status as a Senior Buyer and one year of service with the District as a Senior Buyer.
