Mock Court Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mock Trial Assistant Advisor to join our team at Minnetonka Public Schools. The successful candidate will assist the head advisor in leading our Mock Trial team and will be responsible for the organization and administration of the program.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Assist the head advisor in explaining trial procedures, legal concepts, and courtroom etiquette to team members.
- Recruitment and Team Management: Assist with club recruitment, team formation, and creating competition rosters.
- Student Development: Provide feedback to help students improve their presentation skills, legal reasoning, and case theory development.
- Event Management: Manage and supervise student behavior during activity events.
- Program Administration: Responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization and administration of advising/coaching an enrichment team.
- Learning Environment: Provide a positive learning environment for student participants.
- Scheduling and Logistics: Plan and schedule seasonal activity in accordance with District policy.
- Facility Management: Assume primary responsibility for scheduling and preparation of area/facility where event is to be held and coordinate with the Student Activities Office.
- Attendance and Participation: Attend regular club meetings scheduled for Thursdays 3-5pm and competitions.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Rule Enforcement: Enforce all rules of the Minnesota State High School League and Minnetonka Public School District Policies as they pertain to the respective enrichment activity.
- Assistant Advisor Development: Assist the Director of Activities with hiring, development, and evaluation of assistant advisors, when applicable.
- Safety and Security: Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, including an emergency action plan.
- Equipment and Supplies: Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate to the Director of Activities.
- Discipline and Sportsmanship: Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establish and oversee activity penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Activity Supervision: Attend, supervise, and lead all related activities pertinent to the area of advising.
- Knowledge and Background: Has knowledge and background in the assigned activity.
- Policy Understanding: Understanding of and agreement with the Minnetonka Public School District's Student Activity and Athletic Code and the Coaches/Advisors Handbook.
- Policies and Procedures: Knowledge of State, Federal, and Minnetonka Public School Board Policies regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action.
- Time Management: Evidence of the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, parents, community members, and students.
- Work Direction: Ability to receive work direction.
- Work Ethic: Strong work ethic and dedication to further the benefits of student participation in co-curricular activities.
- Physical Ability: Physical ability to perform essential job functions.
Compensation in accordance with Schedule C of the Teacher Master Agreement.
