Position Overview

The Senior Project Engineer will operate on-site at construction projects, offering critical support to the project team to ensure the effective and timely execution of design-build initiatives from inception to completion. Key responsibilities encompass: scheduling, subcontractor procurement, cost management, subcontract preparation, owner coordination, quality assurance in construction, and project finalization. The role may also involve managing smaller projects independently, mentoring Project Engineers and Summer Construction Interns, and assuming additional responsibilities to progress towards a Project Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the project team and preconstruction services to develop a Project Chart of Accounts.
  • Work alongside the Project Superintendent to create a project site logistics plan.
  • Assist the Superintendent in managing subcontractors effectively.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract.
  • Oversee the processes for submittals, change orders, and payment requests.
  • Support the generation of project costs and Job Cost Reports.
  • Contribute to the analysis and forecasting of quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
  • Monitor and document the training of all project personnel.
  • Track project labor and report equipment requirements.
  • Assist preconstruction services in the bidding process for projects.
  • Implement relevant safety, EEO, and Affirmative Action programs.
  • Engage in the project's quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to scheduling and project close-out activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in managing construction projects valued at $5 million or more, preferably in design-build.
  • Proven knowledge of construction principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Previous experience leading a successful project management team.
  • Ability to navigate job sites, including climbing ladders and scaling multi-floor scaffolding.
  • Capability to lift objects weighing at least 50 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits
