Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer - Construction Specialist to join our team at Intertek. As a key member of our Building & Construction team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our clients in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of assignments that include independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations and modifications to these standards as needed.
  • Conduct preliminary report writing and review, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review project plans and specifications prepared by others, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Attend client site meetings, effectively communicating with clients and project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project teams, providing clear and concise information on project status and progress.
  • Work on one or multiple projects at a time, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Train technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • May manage projects, oversee technicians, and review field and lab data, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Will work both in the field and laboratory regularly, adhering to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Operate testing equipment and conduct testing, providing assessment of data through reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering/ABET school required.
  • Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Degree highly preferred.
  • 2 to 4 years of construction materials testing or geotechnical engineering experience highly preferred.
  • EIT required.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to periodically work off shifts and overtime.
  • May travel occasionally.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
  • Ability to climb and work at heights occasionally.
