Job Summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to contribute to our Lansing, MI office, focusing on serving municipal, educational, and commercial clients. Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in managing projects from the design phase through to construction, encompassing a diverse array of municipal redevelopment and site engineering initiatives. This role demands self-drive, a dedication to excellence, effective planning and communication abilities, and the capacity to work autonomously or collaboratively within a project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and plan water distribution, sanitary and stormwater management systems, and roadway projects for local governments and educational institutions.
  • Oversee a variety of site development projects, providing direct engineering services and supporting other departments with civil engineering needs.
  • Conduct design calculations, quantify project components, create cost estimates, execute CAD drafting, and compile comprehensive reports.
  • Lead project teams through all phases of site development, from initial due diligence and permitting to final design and construction.
  • Collaborate with technical staff across all FTCH offices to deliver consulting engineering services to state and private universities, municipalities, and local development clients.
  • Engage with marketing and technical teams to secure consulting contracts with universities, national retailers, municipalities, and local developers. Existing relationships with these client types are advantageous.
  • Participate in daily interactions with project teams in a multidisciplinary and multi-office setting.
Physical Requirements

Must be capable of occasional lifting and carrying. The role will primarily involve standard office conditions, requiring the use of a computer. Travel to project sites for client meetings and site evaluations is necessary. Proficiency in using various technical equipment for communication and documentation is essential. Visual acuity is required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.

Preferred Skills
  • Professional Engineering license is desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Strong computer and communication skills.
  • Experience in proposal development, including scope definition, team organization, effort estimation, editing, and review.
