Job Overview

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager to enhance our team. The successful candidate will have a robust engineering background and a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, specifically in managing municipal projects from initial design through to construction. This role is ideal for individuals who are technically proficient, possess excellent client engagement skills, and can effectively oversee engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare project proposals, permits, plans, and timelines.
  • Oversee the design, development, and execution of various projects.
  • Act as a representative for clients during public meetings, handling contract negotiations and project budgeting.
  • Provide mentorship and design guidance to junior staff members.
  • Engage in the design of municipal infrastructure projects, including public works and utilities.
  • Conduct design calculations, quantify bid items, develop cost estimates, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Collaborate with marketing and technical teams to support proposal development.
  • Maintain daily interactions with team members across multiple office locations.
Physical Requirements

Candidates should be capable of occasional lifting and carrying. The position involves standard office conditions, requiring the use of a computer. Travel to project sites for client meetings and site evaluations is necessary, along with the ability to utilize various technical equipment for communication and documentation purposes.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required.

Desired Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with preference for Michigan licensure or ability to obtain it through reciprocity within six months.
  • Over 10 years of civil/municipal engineering experience working with local government entities.
  • Strong skills in public speaking and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil3D for preparing bidding documents.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and a desire to advance in this role.
