About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will play a critical role in the preparation of detailed Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings to ensure the efficient and effective placement of our products and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to design and/or layout of sprinkler systems based on building type, construction type, hazard classification, and architectural features.
  • Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages based on the AutoCAD platform; coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components and perform hydraulic calculations.
  • Perform field checks of completed designs to verify accuracy.
  • Work closely with district contracting teams to understand contracts with customers, scheduling of design processes, and delivery needs of installation crews; coordinate deliveries of system materials to job sites to meet optimal installation start dates.
  • Mentor others in accurate execution of sprinkler design using acquired experience, proficiency, and knowledge.
  • Assist sales in design estimates.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1-5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
  • Working experience of AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Sprinkler Design Software, or equivalent sprinkler design software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to solve basic math problems, including geometry and algebra.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MSOffice, Sprinkler Design Software, and a hydraulic calculation program.
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards for Automatic Sprinkler System Layout.
  • NICET II certification.
