Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the role involves delivering a comprehensive guidance program that fosters self-esteem, responsible behavior, career exploration, and educational planning. The counselor will provide support to students and their families while collaborating with community resources, faculty, and staff to develop and implement effective programs and services for the school.

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive guidance program for all students; conducts classroom sessions focused on personal, academic, and career development.
  • Coordinates student transitions in preparation for advancement to the next grade level.
  • Collaborates with staff to support school initiatives and programs; employs strategies to enhance the learning environment.
  • Analyzes test scores for parents and students in relation to educational programs.
  • Participates in Student Support Team meetings to address behavioral, academic, and speech concerns.
  • Engages in consultations with teachers and parents to address student needs; provides external resources for emotional, family, economic, clothing, and medical support.
  • Monitors student attendance to ensure regular school participation; communicates with students and parents regarding attendance issues and follows up with necessary documentation.
  • Implements initiatives to promote positive relationships with families and students.
  • Mediates conflicts among students.
  • Completes referrals to social services as required.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in education or human services (guidance, counseling, etc.) from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in teaching, counseling, or working with at-risk youth is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • A valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in guidance and counseling at level S-5 or above is required.
