Job Title: Animal Technician 2

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Animal Technician 2 to join our team at the University of Washington's Washington National Primate Research Center. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and husbandry to our non-human primate population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine animal health checks and provide preventative care to ensure the well-being of our primates.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of animal enclosures, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor and record animal behavior, weight, and other vital signs.
  • Collaborate with veterinary staff to provide medical care and assistance as needed.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge and skills in animal care and handling.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1 year of experience as an Animal Technician 1 or equivalent.
  • American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
