Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Animal Technician 1 to join our team at the University of Washington's Washington National Primate Center. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team of researchers and animal care professionals to provide exceptional care for nonhuman primates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine animal husbandry, including feeding, watering, and cleaning of animal enclosures.
  • Perform maintenance and sanitation of animal facilities, tools, and equipment.
  • Monitor animal health and behavior, and report any signs of illness or stress.
  • Assist with animal socialization and enrichment programs.
  • Participate in training programs to develop skills in animal handling and behavior.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and maintain accurate records.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of USDA regulations and animal care standards.
  • Basic knowledge of nonhuman primate behavior and health.
  • AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification.
