Job Summary

Travis County is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Worker Trainee to join our Facilities Management team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of moderately complex preventive maintenance tasks, repairs, and additions to County buildings, facilities, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance routines on equipment, building components, and facilities.
  • Conduct periodic and routine walk-through inspections of assigned facilities, identify work requirements, and submit requirements to service calls.
  • Research and estimate time and materials needed, and record time and materials used.
  • Makes electrical, plumbing, masonry, and carpentry repairs, services and repairs heating and air-conditioning systems, replaces broken glass, installs/replaces light fixtures, and switches.
  • Remodels building and facilities, builds cabinets and shelves, prepares for painting, paints and seals building surfaces and equipment.
  • May be required to disassemble/assemble and move furniture and equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Applicants must enroll in and attend an accredited Trade School.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Must pass a criminal background check for CJIS clearance.
  • Applicants are required to successfully pass the background investigation, including fingerprint clearance.
