Overview:


The Interventional Radiology Technologist I plays a crucial role in executing a range of intricate specialized tasks involving fluoroscopy, computed tomography, laser, and ultrasonography equipment during vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional procedures.

This position is essential in developing and implementing systems that ensure the seamless and efficient flow of patients through the Interventional labs.

Key responsibilities for this role encompass but are not limited to:

fulfilling circulating and scrubbing duties during procedures, educating patients, assisting with patient care within the defined scope of practice, managing inventory, and coordinating schedules.

Effective behavior and communication skills must align with the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meets the expectations outlined in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Assists in providing diagnostic imaging for invasive procedures, including arteriography, catheter insertions, stenting, dialysis access, thrombolytic interventions, and angioplasty.
  • Operates and manages Special Procedures equipment and its components, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Achieves optimal quality and accuracy in imaging.
  • Supports the Radiologist/Interventional Radiologist by serving as a scrub assistant during complex interventional procedures.
  • Aids in scheduling patients for procedures, ensuring that all necessary supplies, equipment, and prior films are available for the Interventional Radiologist prior to the procedure.
  • Collaborates with physicians and nursing staff to ensure accurate recording of charges and codes for each procedure performed.
  • Operates various fixed and portable radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment throughout the healthcare facility, including surgical suites and intensive care units.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the specific age and developmental needs of patients.
  • Registered vascular interventional technologists are expected to be available for on-call hours.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills

Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent approved institution is required.

Experience

12 months of training or experience in special procedures is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology is required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Post-Primary Pathway in Vascular Interventional Radiography certification is required within two years.
State licensure is required.
Current BLS (American Heart Association) certification is required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred.
