Position OverviewRole Summary:

The Radiology Intervention Specialist I plays a crucial role in executing a range of intricate specialized functions utilizing fluoroscopy, computed tomography, laser, and ultrasonography apparatus during vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional operations. This position is integral in establishing and executing systems that ensure the seamless and effective management of patient flow within the Interventional laboratories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the established OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Facilitates and provides diagnostic imaging for invasive interventions, including arteriography, catheter insertions, stenting, dialysis access, thrombolytic therapies, and angioplasty.
  • Operates and manages Special Procedures equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
  • Strives for optimal quality and precision in imaging results.
  • Assists the Radiologist/Interventional Radiologist by serving as a scrub assistant during complex interventional procedures.
  • Coordinates patient scheduling for procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and prior imaging are available for the Interventional Radiologist.
  • Collaborates with medical professionals to ensure accurate documentation of charges and codes for each procedure performed.
  • Utilizes a variety of fixed and portable radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment across various hospital settings, including surgical suites and intensive care units.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned patient care tasks in a manner that meets the specific age and developmental needs of patients.
  • Registered vascular interventional technologists are expected to be available for on-call duties.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Skills:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized institution is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 12 months of training or experience in special procedures is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in Radiology is required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Post-Primary Pathway certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography must be obtained within two years.
  • State licensure is mandatory.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
