Overview:


The Interventional Radiology Technologist I plays a crucial role in executing a range of intricate specialized functions utilizing fluoroscopy, computed tomography, laser, and ultrasonography apparatus during vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional operations.

This position is essential in establishing and executing systems that ensure the seamless and effective movement of patients for procedures within the Interventional labs.

Responsibilities for this role encompass, but are not limited to:

fulfilling circulating and scrubbing duties during procedures, educating patients, assisting with patient care within the defined scope of practice, managing inventory, and coordinating schedules.

Effective behavior and communication skills must resonate with the organization's mission, values, and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Aids in providing diagnostic images for invasive procedures, including arteriography, catheter insertions, stenting, dialysis access, thrombolytic interventions, and angioplasty.
  • Operates and manages the Special Procedures equipment and its components, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Secures optimal quality and precision of images.
  • Supports the Radiologist/Interventional Radiologist by acting as a scrub assistant during complex interventional procedures.
  • Assists in scheduling patients for procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and prior films are accessible for the Interventional Radiologist prior to the procedure.
  • Collaborates with physicians and nursing staff to ensure accurate recording of all charges and codes for each procedure performed.
  • Operates various fixed and portable radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment throughout the healthcare facility, including surgical suites and intensive care units.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the age-specific and developmental needs of patients.
  • Registered vascular interventional technologist is expected to be available for on-call hours.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills

Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized institution required.

Experience

12 months of training/experience in special procedures preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Post-Primary Pathway in Vascular Interventional Radiography certification required within 2 years.
State licensure required.
Current BLS (American Heart Association) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
