Position Summary:

The Lead Pharmacy Technician is accountable to the Pharmacist in Charge and plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of pharmacy compounding and dispensing. This position emphasizes patient-centered service, necessitating regular communication with Caregivers, Physicians, and other key stakeholders throughout these processes. The Lead Pharmacy Technician operates under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and collaborates with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver exceptional value to our clients. This role is vital to the Specialty Infusion Pharmacy's operations and requires substantial experience in this area of care delivery. The ideal candidate will execute all responsibilities in alignment with company policies, state professional standards, and relevant regulatory requirements, contributing to the maintenance of high practice standards across all service aspects.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the direct oversight of a licensed pharmacist, the Lead Pharmacy Technician will:

  • Manage daily operations of InfuCare Rx Pharmacy Technicians at the local site, providing guidance and support across the organization.
  • Perform a variety of technical tasks to assist pharmacists, patients, and healthcare providers, supporting the medication distribution system for InfuCare Rx patients.
  • Enhance job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities, professional publications, and networking.
  • Organize and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Uphold the integrity of the Pharmacy by adhering to professional standards, company policies, and all applicable regulations.
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies using appropriate techniques.
  • Conduct basic pharmaceutical calculations to ensure accurate medication dosing.
  • Implement safety, sterile product processing, and infection control principles in daily activities as per organizational policies.
  • Dispense products and document in pharmacy management software to generate necessary delivery documents.
  • Ensure all outgoing prescriptions are verified by a licensed pharmacist before delivery and engage in patient outreach.
  • Coordinate the selection, packing, and delivery of specialty infusion products tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Communicate with patients, caregivers, and stakeholders regarding health, supply, or delivery inquiries.
  • Confirm deliveries in accordance with company protocols.
  • Assist in maintaining various pharmacy logs and records.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards in all pharmacy operations.
  • Support product purchasing, inventory management, and equipment oversight.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure accurate drug product deliveries from wholesale companies.
  • Verify the accuracy of received product orders and assist in tracking infusion pumps and medical equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Pharmacy Technician License in the state of employment.
  • At least two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a compounding pharmacy preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal and resource management abilities.
  • Proficient in managing complex and changing schedules.
  • Ability to interact courteously with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Capability to work independently and meet established deadlines.
  • Experience in customer service, ensuring quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to compound, prepare, and dispense medications, including maintaining clean room standards.
  • Experience in maintaining pharmacy records and performing accurate medication calculations.
  • Ability to oversee and train a team of Technicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an acute or specialty infusion pharmacy.
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with advanced sterile compounding techniques.
  • Experience with CPR+ Pharmacy Management System.
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program and certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or ICPhT).

Physical Requirements:

This position requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing; the ability to use hands for operating vehicles and office equipment; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs; and specific vision capabilities including close, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
