Position Summary:

The Senior Pharmacy Operations Technician will report directly to the Pharmacist in Charge. This role involves overseeing all aspects of pharmacy compounding and dispensing while ensuring a patient-focused approach through consistent communication with caregivers, healthcare providers, and other relevant parties. The incumbent will operate under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver outstanding service. This position is vital to the operational success of the Specialty Infusion Pharmacy and requires prior experience in this area of healthcare delivery. The successful candidate will adhere to company policies, state regulations, and industry standards while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist, the Senior Pharmacy Operations Technician will:

  • Oversee daily operations of pharmacy technicians at the designated site, providing mentorship and support across the organization.
  • Execute a variety of technical tasks to assist pharmacists, patients, and healthcare professionals, ensuring efficient medication distribution for InfuCare Rx patients.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through educational initiatives, professional literature, and networking.
  • Organize and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Uphold the integrity of the pharmacy by complying with professional standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies using established techniques.
  • Perform essential pharmaceutical calculations to ensure accurate medication dosing.
  • Implement safety and infection control measures in daily operations as per organizational policies.
  • Dispense medications and document transactions in pharmacy management software to create delivery documentation.
  • Ensure that all prescriptions are verified by a licensed pharmacist before delivery and engage in patient outreach.
  • Coordinate the selection, packaging, and delivery of specialty infusion products tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Communicate with patients, caregivers, and stakeholders regarding health, supply, or delivery issues as necessary.
  • Confirm deliveries in accordance with company protocols.
  • Maintain various pharmacy logs and records accurately.
  • Ensure cleanliness and compliance of all pharmacy areas in line with company policies and regulations.
  • Assist in inventory management and product procurement.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure accurate receipt of pharmaceutical products.
  • Verify product orders for accuracy and assist in tracking medical equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid Pharmacy Technician License in the state of employment is mandatory.
  • At least two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a compounding pharmacy is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and resource management skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and interact courteously with diverse individuals.
  • Capacity to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in customer service with a focus on quality and satisfaction.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to prepare and dispense medications, including maintaining cleanroom standards.
  • Proficient in maintaining pharmacy records and calculating medication dosages accurately.
  • Ability to lead and train a team of technicians effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an acute or specialty infusion pharmacy setting.
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy environment.
  • Familiarity with advanced sterile compounding techniques.
  • Experience with CPR+ Pharmacy Management System.
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program and certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or ICPhT).

Physical Requirements:

This position requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing; the ability to use hands for operating equipment; and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
