Position SummaryThe Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in the pharmacy's operations, assisting in all aspects of medication preparation and dispensing while ensuring exceptional patient service. This position operates under the close supervision of a licensed pharmacist and collaborates with the healthcare team to enhance patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Interaction: Engage with patients, update records, schedule deliveries, and provide comprehensive support related to patient services.
- Medication Preparation: Aid the pharmacist in the accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, employing appropriate techniques.
- Pharmaceutical Calculations: Conduct essential calculations to ensure correct dosages of medications.
- Safety and Compliance: Implement safety protocols and infection control measures in daily operations, adhering to organizational policies.
- Documentation: Utilize pharmacy management software to document prescriptions and generate necessary delivery documents.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all prescriptions are verified by a licensed pharmacist before delivery and participate in patient outreach.
- Inventory Management: Assist in the selection, packing, and delivery of specialty infusion products tailored to individual patient needs.
- Communication: Liaise with patients, caregivers, and other stakeholders to address health and supply inquiries.
- Record Maintenance: Support the recording and upkeep of various pharmacy logs and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Equipment Management: Help manage inventory and coordinate with suppliers to ensure accurate product deliveries.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
- Current and valid Pharmacy Technician license in the state of employment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in customer service, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain accurate pharmacy records and perform dosage calculations.
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with CPR+ Pharmacy Management System.
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program and certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or ICPhT).
This role requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Candidates must be capable of using hands for operating office equipment and may occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
