Job Description and Duties

As a Hydroelectric Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining hydroelectric power plants, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Your duties will include operating pumps, generators, and auxiliary equipment, as well as monitoring and controlling digital process control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain hydroelectric power plants, including pumps, generators, and auxiliary equipment
  • Monitor and control digital process control systems to ensure optimal plant performance
  • Perform high and low voltage switching, and maintain log records of operations and readings
  • Implement power, water, and pumping schedules, and make power and water calculations as required
  • Prepare and place clearances, verify protection, and issue clearances
  • Maintain an assigned cleaning station, and perform minor maintenance tasks
  • Assist in training apprentices in manual and remote operations of plants and facilities
Requirements:
  • Position is designated sensitive and subject to substance abuse testing
  • Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job
