Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Hydroelectric Plant Operator to join our team at the Department of Water Resources. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our hydroelectric power plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain hydroelectric power plants, including pumps, generators, and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor and control digital process control systems to optimize plant or system-wide operation.
  • Perform high and low voltage switching and maintain accurate log records of operations and readings.
  • Implement power, water, and pumping schedules and make calculations as required.
  • Prepare and place clearances, verify protection, and issue clearances as necessary.
  • Maintain an assigned cleaning station and perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in training apprentices in manual and remote operations of plants and facilities.
Requirements
  • Position is designated sensitive and subject to substance abuse testing.
  • Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job.
