Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work as a Hydroelectric Plant Operator with the Department of Water Resources. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining hydroelectric power plants, ensuring efficient and safe operation of equipment, and contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain hydroelectric power plants, including pumps, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor and control digital process control systems to optimize plant or system-wide operation.
  • Perform high and low voltage switching, and maintain log records of operations and readings.
  • Implement power, water, and pumping schedules, and make power and water calculations as required.
  • Prepare and place clearances, verify protection, and issue clearances.
  • Maintain an assigned cleaning station, and perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in training apprentices in manual and remote operations of plants and facilities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of hydroelectric power plant operations, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills. You will also need to be able to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
