Role Description
America Votes is in search of a highly organized and proactive individual for the full-time role of Program Director in Wisconsin. This position is pivotal in advancing the progressive movement and achieving electoral success within the state. The Program Director will coordinate some of the most dynamic progressive electoral and advocacy initiatives occurring in Wisconsin. Collaborating closely with the America Votes team and numerous progressive partners statewide, this role involves planning and executing electoral and advocacy campaigns, managing field programs, and applying best practices to enhance our collective impact. This opportunity is ideal for someone eager to take on a mid-level role in a campaign environment, passionate about empowering others, and enthusiastic about the intricacies of direct voter engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Assist the state director in realizing America Votes' organizational objectives, including racial equity initiatives. Collaborate with the team to create work plans and benchmarks for success. Oversee special projects to achieve team goals.
- Partner Support: Aid coalition partners in developing campaign strategies across various initiatives, including electoral, voting rights, and issue campaigns. This may involve providing technical assistance and responding to programmatic needs, while also assessing program gaps to maximize impact.
- Coalition Management: Collaborate with the state team to monitor electoral and advocacy programs, ensuring alignment with coalition strategies. This includes logistical support for coalition meetings and leading strategic discussions.
- Voter Engagement Leadership: Direct coalition campaign efforts focused on field tactics, such as canvassing, while integrating best practices and managing geographic prioritization.
- Program Implementation: Lead meetings with coalition partners on election-related topics and support events organized by America Votes and its allies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- 2-5 years of experience in progressive political campaigns or related organizations, with at least two years in project management.
- Cultural competency and the ability to communicate respectfully across diverse backgrounds.
- Strong ownership and resilience in planning and executing projects.
- Experience in campaign field operations, including canvassing and script development.
- Ability to build consensus and maintain trust within a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Google Drive, particularly Excel and Google Sheets.
- Willingness to travel as needed and work irregular hours during peak electoral periods.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with the state political landscape and independent expenditure campaigns.
- Experience with voter contact tools and data management.
- Training in racial equity frameworks and understanding of intersecting power dynamics.
Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary for this position is competitive, with additional performance-based bonuses available.
