We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary ICU Assistant to join our team at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. As a key member of our veterinary hospital staff, you will provide exceptional care to our animal patients, working closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and clinical students.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and care for animal patients, including temperature, pulse, and respiration monitoring
- Administer IV fluids and medications as prescribed by veterinarians
- Walk animals outside and provide exercise and socialization
- Clean and maintain ward areas, restock supplies, and process lab samples
- Enter charges into the hospital information system and assist with billing
- Support clinicians, veterinary technicians, and clinical students with animal patients in the Small Animal Emergency Medicine Unit
We are looking for a candidate with a high school education and six months to one year of related work experience in a veterinary practice. Desired qualifications include experience with general handling of cats and dogs, knowledge of animal restraint, and previous exposure to monitoring equipment.
