Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue samples for Pathologist interpretation and diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately fix, embed, cut, and stain tissue samples for Pathologist interpretation and diagnosis.
  • Provide quality technical and customer service to all customers.
  • Assist the Pathologist in the gross surgical specimen examination.
  • Cut and mount surgical and autopsy cases.
  • Stain specimens with H & E and special stains as required.
  • Prepare and stain specimens for immunohistochemical studies.
  • Receive and prepare specimens to be sent to a reference laboratory.
  • Fulfill all gross specimens, paraffin blocks, and slides derived from surgical and autopsy specimens.
  • Utilize existing QC/QA program as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in the inspection by all regulatory agencies.
  • Enter diagnostic results into the laboratory computer.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all instruments in the section.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree with courses in the biological sciences.
  • 2 years' histology-related experience or formal training in all phases of histology, except electron microscopy.
  • HT Certification in Histology by accrediting agency; or up to one year to obtain.
  • Proficient in the use and limitations of all equipment in anatomical pathology.
