SUMMARY:

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist is tasked with ensuring patient safety while conducting high-quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations. This role requires effective communication with healthcare professionals, including radiologists, and may involve mentoring new staff members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure patient safety through thorough pre-screening for contraindications and adherence to aseptic techniques.
  2. Generate high-quality diagnostic images for accurate assessments.
  3. Position patients appropriately for MRI scans, utilizing immobilization and protective gear to comply with safety regulations.
  4. Conduct safety screenings for patients prior to MRI procedures.
  5. Initiate intravenous lines and administer contrast media as per established protocols.
  6. Assess the technical quality of MRI scans to ensure diagnostic efficacy.
  7. Manage inventory, maintain cleanliness of the imaging unit, and assist in preparation for transport as needed.
  8. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and radiologists to ensure optimal patient care.
  9. Provide training and support to new MRI technologists and patient coordinators.
  10. Coordinate patient scheduling and flow to enhance operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  2. Associate's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  3. Current ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification.
  4. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  5. 1-2 years of experience in MRI is preferred.
