We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our team in Hartford, CT. As a key member of our Transmission Planning group, you will be responsible for conducting detailed technical modeling and analysis, leading projects, and carrying out assignments requiring subject matter expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and perform reliability and/or strategic scenario-based planning driven studies under various system conditions.
  • Contribute sound engineering input to develop robust, reliable, and low-cost solutions.
  • Exchange results and conduct critical review of data and assumptions from regional and industry stakeholders.
  • Interface with ISO-NE, area transmission owners, and other company departments to understand and mitigate electric system needs and challenges.
  • Document and communicate results and recommendations, including data manipulation, report writing, and summary presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups to develop long-range planning criteria for integrating and enabling new technologies.
  • Represent the company on regional, national, and international committees and working groups.
Requirements:
  • MSEE or similar degree in Power Systems or a related field.
  • 10+ years of specialized experience in transmission planning, software simulations, and IBR modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical theory as applied to planning an electric power supply system.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience producing results and conclusions using power system modeling and simulation software.
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer's License (PE).
  • PhD in engineering.
  • Programming experience in Python or VBA.
  • Simulation software experience in ASPEN Oneliner, EMTP (ATP), TARA, or PI Processbook.
