The Vollrath Company, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Procurement Specialist to lead the purchasing effort for assigned commodities. This role is responsible for ensuring that products are sourced with suppliers that provide the best quality, delivery, cost, and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a purchasing strategy for assigned commodities to meet the company's needs in terms of quality, delivery, service, and cost.
  • Own the commercial supplier relationship and act as needed to support the manufacturing facilities in supplier issue resolution or in support of new initiatives that bring value to the organization.
  • Serve as a resource to Commodity Managers on new product development and sourcing projects.
  • Be responsible for sound and ethical business relationships with suppliers while seeking to develop an optimum supply base.
  • Travel required to visit and research potential new suppliers and to visit and evaluate present suppliers.
  • Develop cost models of key products within the commodity group(s) assigned and submit timely reports concerning costs, price trends, supplier and quality accountability, material availability, and recommendations for substitute materials, items, processes, etc.
  • Supply information and literature, arrange contacts and visits, and perform other liaison activities.
  • Keep current in state-of-the-art purchasing practices by attending seminars and/or participating in related professional organizations such as the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

Requirements

  • 3 years of material planning or purchasing experience.
  • 2 years of experience in material sourcing and supplier management.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and production planning principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with suppliers, peers, and all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make objective decisions.
