Position Summary:
The CNC Technician will play a vital role in the setup, programming, operation, and fine-tuning of both conventional and automated machinery, specifically Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) equipment. This position involves interpreting technical drawings and written directives to manufacture both replacement and new components, as well as conducting repairs on metal parts and prototype machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, and refine CNC machine programs.
- Operate CNC machinery in accordance with precise specifications outlined in engineering documentation.
- Set up and manage manual lathes, saws, and cutting tools to achieve exact tolerances.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform minor maintenance, including maintaining a clean workspace.
- Identify and resolve operational and quality-related challenges.
- Ensure compliance with operational and safety protocols.
- Meet production benchmarks consistently.
- Oversee multiple machines or entire production areas as required.
- Maintain a vigilant focus on safety at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a qualified machinist is essential.
- Preference for candidates with a strong background in the machinist trade.
Essential Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience with AutoCAD and adeptness in using computers, hand tools, and measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Capability to write CNC programming.
- Skillful in setting up and operating manual lathes and other machinery to meet stringent tolerances.
- Ability to change tooling and configure machines according to specified machining sequences.
- Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Basic maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to operate machinery with minimal oversight.
Physical Demands:
- Standard work schedule of 40 hours per week, typically structured as four 10-hour shifts.
- Willingness to work overtime as necessary to fulfill production requirements.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stretch for extended periods.
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.
Proficiencies Required:
- Expertise in machine setups for production.
- Strong blueprint reading skills.
- Mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Experience in deburring processes.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Solid shop math abilities.
