The Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Campus Minister/Executive Director to lead our campus ministry at Tennessee State University. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and to contribute to the growth and development of the university community.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive campus ministry strategy that fosters spiritual growth, community engagement, and leadership development among students.
- Provide pastoral care and support to students, faculty, and staff, and serve as a spiritual leader on campus.
- Build and maintain relationships with local churches, community organizations, and university stakeholders to promote collaboration and mutual support.
- Oversee the management of the Wesley building and ensure its maintenance and upkeep.
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget, and lead fundraising efforts to support the ministry's goals and objectives.
- Supervise staff and volunteers, and provide guidance and support to ensure the effective implementation of programs and services.
- Communicate effectively with the Wesley Board and provide regular updates on ministry progress and goals.
- Master of Divinity or seminary degree preferred, but other relevant master's or equivalent degrees and/or years of experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of experience in campus ministry, higher education, church leadership, or other relevant non-profit leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, teaching, preaching, and presentation skills.
- Proven experience in organizational leadership, fundraising, pastoral care, personnel management, and discipleship with young adults.
- United Methodist elders, deacons, licensed local pastors, and lay members who meet experience requirements are preferred. Applicants from other denominations grounded in Wesleyan theology will also be considered.
The Campus Minister/Executive Director will work in an office environment and will be required to occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets. The person in this position will frequently communicate with the public and will be required to remain in a stationary position 25% of the time. Occasional travel for campus activities or other meetings will be required.
Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $54,000-$65,000, depending on experience. Full-time employees are eligible for medical/dental/vision insurance on day one. Full-time lay employees are eligible for a 403(b) retirement savings plan on day one with a generous employer match of 12% for an employee contribution of 3%. Vacation time and paid holidays are also included.
