Job Summary:

The Clinical Documentation Specialist will be responsible for accurately documenting patient information in the electronic medical record at the direction of the physician or advanced practice clinician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document provider dictation and/or activities in the electronic medical record
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on medical terminology and technical spelling

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred
  • Six months customer service environment experience in the medical field, preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and technical spelling
  • Computer aptitude and ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Communication and organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow
  • Aptitude to learn or have knowledge of exam, diagnostic and treatment procedures and protocols
  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families
