We are seeking a highly skilled Metallurgical Engineer to join our team at Outokumpu. As a key member of our Melt Shop team, you will be responsible for evaluating, implementing, and improving processes and operating systems in the Electric Arc Furnace and Argon Oxygen Decarburization areas.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in liquid metals processing and a proven track record of improving manufacturing efficiency, output, and safety. You will work closely with our production planning and bucket loading specialist to ensure quality control of process materials and make data-driven decisions to optimize heat schedules and mill setup.

In this role, you will also be responsible for equipment calibration and maintenance monitoring, managing process and capital improvement projects, and researching the purchase of equipment or upgrades to support operational needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and improve the efficiency, output, and safety of manufacturing processes for Raw Materials, Electric Arc Furnace, and Argon Oxygen Decarburization
  • Use historical data to make improvements to Heat schedules and mill setup
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance monitoring
  • Manage process and capital improvement projects
  • Research the purchase of equipment or upgrades to support operational needs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in Metallurgical, Material Science, Chemistry, or related field
  • Proven knowledge in liquid metals processing
  • Working knowledge of mass balance calculations, oxidation/deoxidation, slag formation, and fluidization
  • Experience assessing industrial processes and taking measurements and data
