Highway Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Montana Department of Transportation. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance, including operating heavy equipment, driving trucks, and performing routine maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including trucks, to perform regular maintenance activities such as ditch cleaning, patching, and material transportation.
- Perform routine maintenance activities, including preoperational checking, scheduled servicing, and adding fluids.
- Load sanding material and perform snow removal and sanding in winter.
- Responsible for the overall functional operation of machines, including preoperational checking, scheduled servicing, and adding fluids.
- Perform related work as required.
- Requires knowledge of highway maintenance and equipment, including basic diesel/gasoline vehicle maintenance.
- One (1) year experience driving heavy trucks and operating construction equipment, basic math, computers, and record keeping.
- A valid Montana Class A Type II Commercial Operators license with endorsements for air brakes and tanker is required.
