About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Culinary Arts Instructor to join our part-time adjunct faculty pool at Kern Community College District. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of lower-division courses in the principles and techniques of food preparation, food management, food production services, restaurant management, and related technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of courses in the Culinary Arts Program, including principles and techniques of food preparation, food management, food production services, restaurant management, and related technologies.
  • Maintain currency in the discipline and develop and revise curriculum as needed.
  • Use computer and multi-media technology as appropriate to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Use varied teaching methodologies to engage students and promote learning.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and discipline-related activities, including recruitment and articulation efforts.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and use data to inform instruction.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments in the culinary arts field.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in the culinary arts field, or
  • Associate degree and six years of professional experience in the culinary arts field, or
  • The equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Experience with curriculum development and instructional technology.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
