Mental Health Associate PRN

The Brook Hospital - KMI is a leading provider of mental health services for adolescents, adults, and seniors. We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Associate PRN to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Mental Health Associate PRN will serve as an active member of the clinical staff, maintaining a therapeutic relationship with patients and assisting in the maintenance of a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities- Know the location and condition of all patients at all times
- Ensure proper handoff of clinical information
- Perform safety checks daily and as needed per guidelines
- Manage groups of patients in outside activities, such as outings, walks, meals, and study
- Assist in managing behavior and controlling destructive behavior per facility guidelines
- Recognize signs of impaired social interaction and motivate patients toward desired cooperation
- Teach alternatives to destructive behavior
- Education: High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred
- Years of experience: No experience required; direct patient care experience in a behavioral health setting is preferred
- Certifications: Must maintain current CPR certification
- Computer skills: Ability to gain training through web-based programs, participate in employee surveys, and enroll in company benefits
- Communication: Must possess excellent verbal skills in communicating with patients, coworkers, and visitors
- Teamwork: Must be able to actively participate in a treatment team environment
- Service Excellence: Consistently demonstrates all Service Excellence Standards
The Brook Hospital - KMI is a bed hospital offering a full continuum of inpatient, extended care, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services. Our specialized treatment services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of highly trained psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, addiction counselors, nurses, pastoral counselors, and activity therapists.
We pride ourselves on the fact that our patients are referred directly to us by local professionals and organizations. These direct referrals and our high patient and family satisfaction rates are a reflection of our effectiveness in treating mental illness and addictions.
