Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team at the Brattleboro Retreat, a respected psychiatric hospital in the northeast. As a Behavioral Activity Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the mental health recovery process of children and youth experiencing psychiatric crises and emotional and behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and co-facilitate individual and group interventions and impromptu groups and activities on the inpatient unit.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a consistent group schedule and offer ongoing opportunities for productive, therapeutic, rehabilitative, and individualized patient engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with the treatment team to implement a therapeutic treatment program.

Requirements:

  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
  • License or certification in a therapeutic field preferred.
  • National Certification preferred.
  • Experience facilitating groups in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
