American Heritage Credit Union is seeking a seasoned Controller Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for assisting the Controller and CFO in directing the accounting function, maintaining financial reporting, and ensuring data integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing and disseminating financial reports, including month-end, Board reports, and regulatory audits.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and CFO to develop and maintain financial reporting, including budgets, asset-liability models, and mortgage accounting activities.
  • Oversee the financial close process, including reviewing financial statements, accruals, prepaid, suspense, and general ledger accounts.
  • Participate in the budget process, collecting and developing data required for American Heritage and its CUSO budgets.
  • Assist in reviewing and reporting on mortgage accounting activities, including accrued interest, service fees, portfolio inventory, and loan sales and payoffs.
  • Analyze and document recommendations related to lines of business, products, and services as needed.
  • Manage investment accounting and administration.
  • Assist in coordinating critical activities during disaster recovery events.
  • Oversee accounting and review of AES/PHEAA/Student Choice/Lendkey loan reporting.
  • Ensure completion and preparation of accurate and timely general ledger reconciliations for all entities.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of experience in similar or related roles.
  • Equivalent to a college degree and a professional certificate or graduate degree.
  • Professional interpersonal skills necessary for supervising accounting staff and servicing members, employees, and other clients.
  • Extensive fact-finding investigation required to solve complex problems.
  • Requires working knowledge of GAAP and financial concepts.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of PC applications, including Word, Excel, MS Outlook, and Symitar.

Our competitive salary commensurate with experience is $70,000 - $90,000 per year. We offer an extensive benefits package, including paid time off, health benefits, 401(k) with a generous company match, and future growth opportunities within the company.
