About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Clearwater Paper in Shelby, NC. As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems, including motors, motor control centers, and variable frequency drives.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues on equipment and systems, including photo eyes, proximity switches, and limit switches.
  • Installation and Configuration: Install and configure new electrical equipment and systems, including PLC input/output modules and control wiring.
  • Process Control: Tune and optimize process control loops and machine control systems to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • DCS and PLC Programming: Program and troubleshoot DCS and PLC interfaces, including ladder logic, block logic, sequential logic, and statement logic.
  • Communication Protocols: Troubleshoot and diagnose communication protocols, including Profibus, serial, and industrial Ethernet.
  • Laser Guided Vehicles: Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles and associated conveyors and equipment.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment by following safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of demonstrated electrical experience in controls or instrumentation, or a combination of electrical experience with an associate degree in the related field.
  • Skills: Demonstrated experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), pneumatics, or hydraulic systems required. Experience with troubleshooting and performing maintenance on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including temperature extremes, loud noise, and exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Work Schedule: Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and overtime as needed.
