Job Overview

The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring that the housekeeping department operates efficiently and meets the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. This position involves overseeing staff and coordinating activities to maintain a pristine environment throughout the establishment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide the Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants, Housepersons, and Lobby Attendants in their daily tasks to uphold service and cleanliness standards.
  • Address guest inquiries and concerns promptly, collaborating with other departments as necessary to enhance guest experiences.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the facility by managing an organized and effective housekeeping operation.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Housekeeping to develop work schedules based on anticipated occupancy levels.
  • Maintain knowledge of cleaning equipment and submit requisition orders as needed.
  • Conduct inspections of public areas to ensure cleanliness and operational efficiency.
  • Guarantee that public spaces exceed customer expectations regarding appearance and cleanliness.
  • Facilitate training sessions for staff as required.
  • Equip team members with the skills necessary to deliver exceptional service to guests.
  • Regularly monitor service quality and teamwork, providing guidance to associates as needed.
  • Ensure guest rooms meet established hotel standards.
  • Inspect all guest rooms daily, checking 'In-house' or 'Stay-over Rooms' as required.
  • Prepare maintenance requests as necessary and conduct inventories as assigned.
  • Check linen closets and carts for cleanliness and adequate supplies.
  • Train staff on effective cleaning methods and safety protocols.
  • Enforce safety rules and procedures, taking corrective action to enhance workplace safety.
  • Utilize leadership skills to maximize team productivity and satisfaction.
  • Set, communicate, and monitor performance standards in a timely manner.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of linen, chemicals, and amenities.
  • Recommend product purchases while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Coordinate housekeeping efforts with other departments, including Front Office and Engineering.
  • Work closely with the Director of Housekeeping to understand all aspects of hotel operations and assist as needed.
  • Manage staffing and payroll in accordance with productivity and budgetary guidelines.
  • Keep the Director of Housekeeping and other supervisors informed of significant issues or unusual occurrences.
Essential Qualifications
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of direct supervisory experience is required.
  • Proficient in English (both verbal and written); Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to hear and see to detect emergency situations.
  • Capability to climb stairs, bend, reach overhead, kneel, twist, and grip items.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond to visual and auditory signals (telephone, radio).
  • Capacity to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing between 25-50 pounds.
  • Ability to extend arms overhead for various tasks and work in confined spaces under varying temperatures.
