Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team at Methodist Hospital. As a key member of our Laboratory Department, you will be responsible for performing complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing.
  • Analyze test results and assume accountability for accuracy.
  • Understand, perform, and practice preventive maintenance on equipment; troubleshoot and take corrective action.
  • Understand, perform, and practice quality control management to include running controls, evaluating data, documentation of data, and taking corrective action as required.
  • Anticipate and evaluate need for new methods, instrumentation, and technology in terms of customer need, cost benefit and revenue generation, and inform management about findings.
  • Assure compliance with accrediting agencies.
  • Act as a resource to customers both within the department and outside the department.
  • Manage assigned projects to include developing a plan, coordinating necessary resources, setting project timelines, keeping Manager informed of progress, and completing project within established time limits.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent), with 15 years of clinical lab experience OR
  • Associates Degree with minimum 2 years' experience in Clinical Lab setting. -OR
  • Bachelor's Degree required with clinical lab experience preferred.
  • Minimum License and Certificates Required: One of the following certifications is required: MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), CLT(NCA), MLT(ASCP), or MLT(AMT) Certification is waived for those with 5 years of lab experience
