Job Summary

The CCS Companies is seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and scalability of our Linux servers and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain dedicated RHEL Linux servers for the organization.
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain associated databases and storage infrastructure.
  • Perform regular system updates and security patches to ensure optimal performance of the Linux servers and associated infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with DevOps on critical tasks to optimize, monitor, support, and develop system features beneficial to the organization.
  • Manage and maintain system backups, upgrades, DR exercises, migration, and failover scenarios.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automating system tasks using Bash, Python, etc.
  • Develop, recommend, and enforce security protocols and policies to protect the systems.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of the servers and associated infrastructure.
  • Respond to security incidents and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide regular reports on system performance and security.
  • Assist in developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure seamless system integration and operation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to system users and IT staff.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in a Linux System Administration role or relevant Linux System environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of Linux OS (RHEL), including Kernel.
  • Professional certifications in RHCE, LPIC – 2/3 preferred.
  • Experience with VMWare, cloud platforms (AWS), and database administration/support in Oracle and/or PostgreSQL preferred.
  • Proficient with scripting languages including Bash, Python, etc.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, firewalling, and encrypted IP communications.
  • Ability to use configuration management tools and other diagnostic tools relevant to the technology.
  • Strong network services, security knowledge, and excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately document related tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team structure.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technology-focused degree preferred, relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
