About the Role

">

The ideal candidate will have 10 years of acute care nursing experience and be certified in clinical documentation. This position involves overseeing and developing the audit plan and schedule for the CDI department, conducting concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records, and implementing formal and informal training programs to improve the quality and completeness of clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

">
  • Develop and implement the CDI audit plan, utilizing evidence-based knowledge, protocols, and documentation criteria
  • Create educational materials and train physicians, mid-level providers, and ancillary staff on documentation best practices
  • Collaborate with Health Information Management leadership to establish meaningful goals and metrics for CDI performance
  • Assist with the orientation and training of new CDI staff members
  • Foster relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals to promote complete and accurate documentation

Requirements

">
  • Clinical Documentation Proficiency certification from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing
  • Diploma from an accredited school of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN degree
  • CCDS certification or willingness to obtain
  • AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer certification preferred
  • 3-5 years of recent CDS experience
  • 2 years of recent CDIS auditing and education experience
