Job Overview

Tofel Dent Construction is a well-established family-owned firm looking for a skilled Assistant Superintendent to support our construction projects. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and budget-conscious project delivery while fostering strong relationships with all stakeholders involved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of subcontractors and manage assigned personnel.
  • Evaluate subcontractor progress and negotiate necessary adjustments to project timelines.
  • Maintain and adjust a 4-week project schedule to reflect changes while ensuring workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control and assurance standards.
  • Facilitate communication with subcontractors, project superintendents, and project managers through calls and emails to coordinate meetings and document interactions.
  • Attend weekly project meetings, generating and distributing minutes for all participants.
  • Contribute valuable insights to the Request for Information (RFI) and Change Order processes as required.
  • Compile daily reports for subcontractors under supervision, providing documentation of issue resolutions to the project superintendent.
  • Review and confirm compliance with Schedule D for supervised subcontractors.
  • Organize informal pre-work meetings with building inspectors and formal inspections post-completion.
  • Conduct daily site walks to fulfill assigned tasks as directed by the superintendent.
  • Promote job site safety and maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Meet established targets for documenting safety observations, inspections, and hazards.
  • Assist in securing the job site at the start and end of each workday as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in leading multi-family housing construction projects.
  • Proficient knowledge of various construction trades, including MEP, structural details, and site utilities.
  • Ability to interpret project plans and specifications, conducting thorough reviews.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction operations and processes.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience with skills in coaching and training team members.
  • Strong project management and communication abilities.
  • OSHA 30 certification is required.
  • Familiarity with local safety, quality, and health regulations for construction sites.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
