Job Summary

As a Senior Risk Officer for Real Estate, you will play a critical role in ensuring the credibility of commercial appraisals and compliance with regulatory requirements. Your primary responsibility will be to review externally prepared appraisals, manage the review process, and maintain vendor relationships. You will also participate in portfolio reviews, lead ad hoc teams for valuation due diligence, and provide market intelligence to lenders. Your expertise in commercial appraisal, risk management, and analytical skills will be essential in resolving complex issues and advising risk managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review externally prepared commercial appraisals to ensure credibility and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Manage the review process, including vendor relationships and timely status updates
  • Participate in portfolio reviews and lead ad hoc teams for valuation due diligence
  • Provide market intelligence to lenders and prepare market studies
  • Evaluate the feasibility of complex investments and perform sensitivity analyses
  • Resolve complex issues and advise risk managers on real estate risk
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in commercial appraisal, risk management, and analytical skills. You should have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in appraisal, with at least 3 years in a lending institution. You must have a Bachelor's degree and may have advanced degrees. You should also be a state Certified General Appraiser and have completed all Appraisal Institute classes necessary for the MAI designation.
