Job Title: Senior Accounting Manager

Catalyst Family Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing and performing general accounting functions, including regulatory and corporate reporting, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, purchasing, and intercompany balances and settlements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct the Accounting team while providing technical guidance and leadership to other internal stakeholders on accounting-related issues.
  • Oversee and coordinate all financial and compliance audits, including internal reviews and follow-up on audit results.
  • Review and ensure timely submission of auditors' requests and respond to follow-up questions.
  • Prepare Form 990 data, 571L welfare exemption applications, Census Reports, Sales/Use Tax Returns, and Environmental Fee Returns with the GL team, ensuring timely filing for all locations.
  • Communicate with the Assessor's office regarding tax bills received after filing for welfare exemptions.
  • Participate in multi-functional teams, leading projects and assignments as required to support company initiatives and directives.
Work with AP Supervisor and AP Team:
  • Ensure timely processing of credit card expense reports, vouchers, invoices, and other expense reports, and manage accurate weekly check runs.
  • Oversee the timely submission of checks/ACHs, provider payments, and correct completion of monthly accounts payable reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and mailing of 1099s, review and post AP journal entries and invoices.
  • Review and submit all audit requests related to AP in the PBC list to auditors.
Work with AR Supervisor and AR Team:
  • Ensure timely processing of monthly invoices, accurate recording of returned checks and uncollectible tuition, and adherence to policies for collection of aged invoices.
  • Prepare AR monthly reconciliations accurately, and review and post AR journal entries and invoices.
  • Review and submit all audit requests related to AR in the PBC list to auditors.
Work with Purchasing Team:
  • Ensure EPARs are correctly prepared and submitted as required, and that all purchasing aligns with federal, state, and agency procurement policies and regulations.
  • Review and approve all credit card expense reports by specified deadlines.
  • Manage the quality, cost, and timeliness of purchase agreements with key vendors, and review and submit all audit requests related to purchasing.
Work with General Ledger Team:
  • Ensure the team maintains a thorough understanding of the chart of accounts and general ledger structure.
  • Oversee timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and fiscal year-end close processes while ensuring adherence to GAAP, FASB, and OMB policies.
  • Maintain fundamental accounting internal controls, and ensure the accounting system operates effectively, recommending changes for best practices and compliance.
Work with Finance & Accounting Team:
  • Prepare, audit, and analyze Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Financial Statements, including the Notes to the financial statements and Fixed Assets schedule.
  • Maintain and save all backup documents for financial statements on the shared drive and prepare fixed asset schedule and annual inventory reports.
Education and Experience:

The MINIMUM formal relevant education required by the position is a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance. An advanced degree is highly preferred (CPA, CMA, CIA, MBA). The MINIMUM relevant experience necessary to qualify for the position is 3-5 years' experience in accounting and accounting management.

Additional Qualifications include large company accounting systems experience, strong to expert level PC and Excel skills, prior experience in supervision and management of a team, proficiency in second languages, and strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB, and Nonprofit accounting standards.
