Kaiser Permanente is looking for a Surgical Technologist Level I to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional surgical care.

Position Overview

This role involves assisting in surgical procedures as a vital member of the surgical team, ensuring that all instruments and supplies are prepared and available according to established protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in surgical operations by passing instruments and supplies, while adhering to established safety and procedural standards.
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques during surgical procedures by preparing and scrubbing prior to entering sterile environments.
  • Prepare the operating room by organizing instruments, surgical trays, and necessary equipment tailored to specific surgical procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sterility of the operating room post-surgery by properly disposing of contaminated materials and preparing instruments for sterilization.
  • Maintain readiness of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring all departmental supplies are available and in good condition.
  • Assist with patient care tasks, including patient preparation and operating various electronic devices as instructed.
  • Foster positive relationships with patients, staff, and the public through courteous and cooperative interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including patient transport and assisting in the orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Enhance customer service for both internal and external clients by demonstrating skills aligned with the organization's commitment to exceptional service.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2000 hours of Operating Room scrub experience or equivalent military training within the last three years, demonstrating competency in scrubbing for various surgical procedures (excluding open heart), or recent graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician program or military equivalent within the last six months.

Education:

  • N/A

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
Additional Information
  • This position requires mandatory on-call duties.
  • Must be able to respond to on-call situations within 30 minutes.
  • Backup coverage is needed on weekends.
  • This position may be filled by either a Surgical Tech I or Surgical Tech II.
