Position Summary:

As a Field Service Technician, you will work under the guidance of the Vice President, collaborating closely with our Sales team and Operations Coordinator/Scheduler. Your key responsibilities will encompass the installation and maintenance of fire alarm, security, access control, and surveillance systems for residential and small business clients. This role requires regular travel to various client locations, predominantly within the state, ensuring that most assignments are local. We seek individuals with strong technical acumen and exceptional customer service abilities. The position necessitates meticulous documentation and a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and floor plans
  • Unpack, install, and wire fire alarm, security, access control, and surveillance systems
  • Program and test all system components
  • Certify systems using company and industry-standard forms
  • Document installation and service activities, including parts used and work orders, via a web-based platform
  • Deliver outstanding on-site customer service, including training and technical support
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at client locations and in your work vehicle
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems as needed
  • Respond to service calls related to security, access control, and surveillance issues
  • Ensure documentation aligns with company and client standards

Location:

  • Positioned ideally in a central area for accessibility
  • Primarily operate from our corporate office
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to effectively utilize a smartphone for communication, documentation, GPS navigation, and scheduling
  • Strong customer service skills for productive client interactions
  • Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings and operational manuals
  • Basic understanding of circuitry and experience with a multimeter
  • Excellent multitasking and prioritization abilities
  • Detail-oriented approach to documentation and task execution
  • Strong organizational skills for managing tools, equipment, and records
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent education; cultural fit is highly valued, and comprehensive training will be provided
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools
  • Training in general safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, and quality systems awareness

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to climb ladders and stairs, access elevated areas, and inspect system components at various heights
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Manual dexterity to handle materials effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly; heavier lifting with mechanical assistance or teamwork
  • Comfort with navigating confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and other installation areas
  • Vision: Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in one eye (uncorrected) or 20/70 with corrective lenses; ability to distinguish colors
