Position Summary:
The Maintenance Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the upkeep of railcars.

Lead all initiatives to ensure that railcar repairs are completed on time, adhere to quality benchmarks, meet financial targets, and surpass customer expectations while upholding Greenbrier's Core Values of Safety, Quality, Respect for Individuals, and Customer Satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

To excel in this role, an individual must effectively carry out the following essential duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to adapt to business needs and evolving practices.


Formulates maintenance strategies and establishes necessary protocols to guarantee that high standards of railcar repair are maintained, including labor standard hours and compliance with customer and company Quality Standards.


Manages workforce levels to minimize overhead costs and ensure that the necessary materials are available to meet annual budgetary requirements.

Oversees all departmental activities to ensure that production objectives are achieved.


Ensures a safe and organized work environment that is free from hazards while adhering to all site and regulatory safety standards.

Directs all departmental maintenance functions, staffing needs, and operational supply usage.

Articulates goals and objectives, enforces company policies, provides coaching, administers disciplinary actions, and fosters positive employee relations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

Intermediate proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Ability to communicate and collaborate professionally, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organization.

Ability to identify and resolve complex issues, including quickly evaluating options and implementing solutions.

Ability to recognize and mitigate risks

Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in English/Spanish

3-5 years of supervisory experience in railcar repair or a related field

Capability to teach and implement Lean principles and methodologies
