Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Installation Crew Chief to join our team at Universal Dynamics Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the work of a traveling installation team, ensuring timely completion of projects and excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with ISG Project Managers to coordinate installation work and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Act as the primary customer interface, representing Universal Dynamics Inc at customer meetings and ensuring effective communication of project status and plans.
  • Direct the traveling plan for installation team members, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing downtime.
  • Ensure a safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations, and refusing any team member to perform work in an unsafe manner.
  • Provide regular job progress reports to document the work of the team and ensure accurate tracking of project milestones.
  • Coordinate project site needs with Project Managers, including procurement of necessary parts, tools, drawings, equipment, and change order requests.
  • Ability to act as a Site Supervisor, coordinating the work of other contractors when utilized, such as cranes, core-drillers, or on-site fabricators.
  • Travel extensively to customer sites to install Universal Dynamics Inc equipment, with deployments varying by job demand and including weekend travel.
  • Perform a variety of tasks at the Universal Dynamics Inc facility when not deployed on installation jobs.
  • Ensure the work site is cleaned up prior to departure and that the crew adheres to good housekeeping practices.
  • Coordinate the return of excess hardware and equipment to Universal Dynamics Inc or vendors, working closely with the Project Manager and Shipping department.
  • Approve crew-submitted worked hours according to job assignment and enter them into the payroll system for timely processing.

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License: Required to operate company vehicles, including pickup trucks and work trailers. Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) is required.
  • Equipment Training/Certification: Trained or certified (or able to obtain certifications) in operating forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other equipment as needed.
  • Safety Certification: OSHA 30-hour construction course certification, or other safety courses as required by Universal Dynamics Inc or customers. Demonstrates a strong track record of safety and ensures crew adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with customers, Universal Dynamics Inc Project Managers, crew members, and sales team. Provides accurate timing and resource estimates and updates as needed.
  • Experience: Typically requires five (5) or more years of relevant experience; a minimum of two (2) years' direct experience is required.
  • Leadership Ability: Proven capability to manage and direct the work of others effectively.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in, or ability to learn, piping work, structural installation, Universal Dynamics Inc equipment installation, and electrical control wiring.
  • Industrial Knowledge: Good understanding of industrial process machinery, process piping, and duct work.
  • Technical Analysis: Proven ability to analyze flow diagrams, ISO drawings, and factory layout drawings to conceptualize optimal piping and wiring configurations.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical installation work for 8-12 hours per day, including at typical factory or silo elevations.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented and precise in all tasks.
  • Customer Service: Committed to providing efficient, high-quality customer service.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
